You can walk through the river, you can swim in the river, you don't really remember, all early memories are foggy now. If you go to the other side, you are in an another country, they say. The river is not just a river, the river is a mark. An imaginary rope dividing concepts barely understandable to a child.
Later, you find the river in the same spot, only sharpened with razor blades. Quite a mark.
